About Sushicam

Sushicam was started in early 2000 as a way for me to document my experiences in Japan and keep in touch with family and friends. It has instead evolved to become my own personal journey as a photographer exploring a place that I still find fascinating, even after all these years.

I just stumbled upon your page because you were featured on the flickr blog for the ume blossoms. I really love your photostream – you have a very unique perspective. I was in Yokosuka for two years aboard the USS Kitty Hawk, but now I’m back in the US. I’ve taken tons of pictures, so feel free to browse my photostream – flickr.com/photos/randylane

    Hello Jeff,

I think your copyright is being pirated in the US:

I may have found something that concerns your photographs being pirated. There is a a seller on eBay who is downloading photos from all over the web, mostly from Flickr, and offering them as art prints. I have already found him to be doing this with other Flickr users so I decided to check him out. If this is not the case then I am sorry for bothering you.

    Please read below.

    Antipiracy Watchdog,

Thanks for the heads up. Yes, some of those are my photos, and the person doesn’t even have the brains to remove my copyright statement from the images. Wow. Time for me to contact eBay and lodge a complaint.

The thing that really pisses me off is that they downloaded 72 dpi images and are selling prints with my name on them that will end up looking like crap.

    Thanks for the notification.

    Jeff

    Jeff:

I bought some of your prints at a bazaar at Yokota Air Base. I am now back in the US and am looking to buy more.

Do you sell them online, and if so, where can I find them?

    Thanks.

Hey Jeff, I am wondering if it possible to reblog the missing tutorial you have done on May 22, 2008, it was gone due to the hacking problem you have experianced with. I like to see some tips again. Much appreciated. =)
Keep updating, you were pretty less active during 2008 and 2009. I miss your works.

Love the site, Great photo’s!! Keep up the good work Jeff πŸ™‚ I would love to see more of your wonderful pictures of japan.

This blog is what initially got me interested in Japanese culture. I’ve been following it for years. However, the layout of the site as of late is very unpleasant on the eyes…

Is there any way I can help polish sushicam’s look? I know my way around WordPress and have experience with web design. Do let me know!

You have a wonderful blog and I think it’s design should reflect that.

    Hi Jeff;

I have been following you on your web site and Flickr page for a little while now, and I am amazed at the photographs you have captured around Japan. My wife and I will be visiting Japan this xmas break and I was wondering if you might be able to recomend a few places for taking photographs. We will be Japan for 2 1/2 weeks, and will be traveling out of Yokohama. Any ideas or recomendations would be great. Thanks in advance, and thank you for sharing your images on the web!

    Jeff,

Just stumbled upon your flickr stream and then headed on over here to read some of your stories. I’m fascinated -obsessed rather- with both Japan and photography so you brought the best of both worlds into my life on this beautiful Christmas night. Thank you! I look forward to many more of your wonderful photos.

My friend suggestions are messed up. I get no pictures and when I do click on other options, I get a blank page saying I have no matches, no matter what I am trying to do. I thing it is only the letters of suggestions that is affected. Please fix it or remove my name from the mailing list. I want to talk to people, but I have no way to look or respond. I like your photos, I have reccomended your site to my friends in the USA and in Japan. Tony in Sendai, Miyagi

    Hi Jeff,

Your site was one of my favorites back in the days when I have to work my old boring job. Would browse your site, read all your little advantures and check out the pretty pictures during down times. It’s also one of the main drive that finally got me taking that backpacking trip to Japan last year (3 weeks trip cover Osaka and the surrounding areas, Tokyo and Hokkaido). It was really a great time and in part I have to thank you for it.

The main reason I’m posting right now is just to ask if there is still any of your older blogs still around that I can read (and the pictures too~). I’ve stopped visiting your site for a while now (personal matters, nothing to do with the quality of your site, which is just as good as I remeber) and kinda want to catch up on all the stuff I missed and what not. Plus I also want another friend who’s interested in Japan to read them too.

Anyway, thank you for your great work and hope to read more of it again~

    Larry.

    Jeff,
My Mom & I bought a framed photograph at the Bazaar here at Yokota this morning—the one of your girlfriend at the Coke machine. Anyway, I was wondering if you take outdoor photographs of families. LOVE your work!

    Thanks,
    Meagan

    Hello Jeff,
I have been reading your blog for a while, since I found about your DIY camera (it was probably 2006). One thing I miss are your old posts, after reading about the lomofied DP-1, I started reading your older posts and found plenty of stories and pictures I liked. Months ago I followed a religious ritual in a town in Taiwan and discovered (read: I was told) that most men appearing in the ceremony were gangsters; I couldn’t avoid thinking that something similar was described in one of your old posts (large gangsters in thongs entering a pond with statues on their shoulders). Those posts can still be retrieved at web.archive.org, but … they belong here.

Are you considering re-adding those posts? I’d be happy to help (PHP/MySQL knowledge/free time aplenty).

Hi Jeff, thank you for helping me out just now! I suppose I was incredibly lucky to have only been locked out after the heavy rain had ceased. Well, hope you enjoy the rest of your stay in Okinawa! Great photos you have here. πŸ™‚

Jeff how’ve you been? I havn’t been on this site in a few years, at least. It sure looks a lot different! I remember reading the stories from Pachipro and a few others. I remember you’re from Michigan, as well as I am. We have been dealing with a wicked hot spell these passed few weeks. Setting a few record temperatures along the way. But even then, it still cannot compare to Mie-Ken summers in the end of July…now THOSE are what the definition “Wicked” was created by.
